PPD- Why am i here? What do i want to learn?

IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN 5 REASONS WHY YOU CHOSE TO STUDY ON THIS COURSE?

- What has really attracted me to this course, is the preparation it clearly gives you for the industry as a whole, with demanding working hours, and the addition of enterprise lectures etc this year, cements this theory.
- When i came around for the first time, there was a certain amount of passion, which wasnt like any where else in which i applied, this passion get installed in you as you go through the course.
- I liked the idea of joining my friends in leeds, its a good city to be in, the night life is good, yet not overl big.
- Tutor-student time was a lot better here than it was at my previous uni, which is why i left, so was the obvious choice to come somewhere smaller.
- The facilities here are also very good, especially the digital print and mac suits, which of course are always useful


IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN 5 THINGS THAT YOU WANT TO LEARN DURING YOUR TIME ON THE PROGRAMME?

- High level software skills, which are incredibly important in the industry.
- I want my organisation and time management to be at a professional level by the time i finish here, i think this is incredibly important in this industry.
- I want to have a high level of understanding of what direction i want to take creatively when i finish this course, this perhaps is the most important thing i want to learn.
- Want to become a better public speaker, which is obviously very important in an industry which is all about communication.
- I want to learn how to produce and industry standard finish on all of my work, which will allow me to leave here with a strong type and image based portfolio.

IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN 5 SKILLS THAT YOU THINK ARE YOUR STRENGTHS?

- I think from a design process point of view, my strength lies in coming up with a concept, which isn't necessarily the normal solution to a brief.
- Communication of ideas is perhaps another strength of mine, i feel relatively at easy when try to communicate an idea, however software skills can sometimes let me down when producing the final outcome.
- I believe i have a strength in working to tight time constraints, i work better when under pressure to come up with solutions to problems.
- I believe i have become a lot better on indesign and Illustrator, as programmes, i can still develop my skills.
- Working in a group situation, i think i work well in, this is also important in the industry, as this is often how briefs are solved.

IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN 5 THINGS THAT YOU WANT TO IMPROVE?

-I want to improve my software skills, as they are obviously important in the industry.
-I want to add more finesse to final outcomes, this important in producing professional outcomes.
-Time management can always be improved as organisation in other aspects will allow me to save time in  producing final outcomes.
- Improve my knowledge of the industry, this is important, as eventually i will be part of it, t will give me a head start on competitors when finishing uni.
- Improve my cts, and general understanding of the history of art and design, and get better at writing my essays.

IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN 5 WAYS THAT YOU WILL EVALUATE YOUR PROGRESS?

-Blog, constant record of progress throughout the year.
-Tutor meeting and constant updates of progress.
- Crits, through out the year are constant progress reports
- Self evaluation, is important in terms of improving your work, if you realises mistakes, you can correct them next time.
-to do lists, keep me up to date with my every day routine.

IDENTIFY 5 QUESTIONS THAT YOU WANT TO FIND THE ANSWER TO?

- Who am i as a designer? this will allow me to make an informed decision on my future career
- Is freelance graphic design feasible straight after university?
- What other avenues in life will a graphic design degree give me?
- Whats the average salary of a graphics graduate?
-What does it take to become an A list graphic designer?
